The co-founder of the Satanic Temple joins us to give his expert opinion on the depiction of Satan in this psychedelic modernized adaptation of the Gospel story of Jesus’s temptation in the desert. In Miracle Man, “JC” is a construction company owner who magically heals the sick at his downtown prayer meetings — meanwhile, the devil is a floating head whose idea of the “ultimate sin” is taking the boys to Las Vegas for a weekend trip. Before we get into film discussion, we also ask Lucien a few questions about his personal philosophy as a Satanist, and his fascinating history of activist work with the Satanic Temple.
